Default E Locker working?

I recently installed a Eaton E Locker on my Dana 30 front axle. This might sound like a stupid question by how can I tell if it is working or not? I found a little dirt area near my house, went into 4 Hi and flipped the switch. I could feel that the 4 wheel drive was engaged but how do I know the locker is engaged? I thought I would feel it in the steering, or even hear the locker engage?

If the locker is engaged your turning radius should be like a truck much wider than when unlocked.

Shouldn't have to even be in 4WD.. Hit the switch, turn left and go.. Look out the door, is the tire in front of you kicking up a lot of dirt..?? Is it HARD to hold it turned..? If so, you're locked.. If not, you're not

I thought you had to be in 4wd for the front locker to engage

That is correct. Transfer case must be engaged in order for power to be delivered to the front axle.

Yep, put it in 4wheel drive.

Make a turn a full 360 degrees over and over like I do. If it works you will feel the steering stiffen up and as if you are driving a bus..

Currently; mine is not working though.
