Default EGR valve replacement options?

CEL came on today. Pulled the code which is a P0406, which points in the direction of needing a replacement EGR valve. I typically lean towards Mopar replacement parts but at $140 and non OEM Mopar versions at half that price, I'm starting to lean towards a non Mopar.

I looked at the reviews of the Dorman but they don't look very good. Currently considering the "Wells".

Anyone have any experience with the Wells or another EGR Valve brand replacement?

I went Napa for this one and it hasn't given me even the slightest hiccup since replacement. The failure occurred early on (under 100k miles) so I went with the Napa looking for better luck and a better warranty than Mopar (12mo/12k mile at the time).

Mine went bad at under 100k in the fall of 2015. I installed a Dorman and it lasted a few months before throwing the code sporadically. I installed a BWD unit in Sept. 2016 and not an issue since.

Dealer charged me $95 to do it. I didn't need it done but I follow the service intervals.

$95? From the dealership? Are you missing a "0" on the end of that? I've been reading where most shops will charge $500-$600 since it isn't an easy replacement.

Is that $95 just for labor? Then another $700 for the part?

I'm currently leaning towards this Wells on Amazon for $75. Good reviews, decent price.

Actually my CEL went out. It was on for 2 days solid after filling up my gas tank, now today it didn't turn on. I'm sure it will come back on. My gas mileage seems to have been going down hill lately, so it's making sense the EGR valve likely needs to be replaced. I might replace my air intake temp sensor while I'm at it, since I read a bad air intake sensor can cause my error as well, and that's the easier replacement. They both have 148K miles on them.

I know. Reading this now. I can't believe it either. I'll grab a pic of the receipt if I can find it. Parts and labor came to $95. I have the lifetime powertrain so I was letting them do the transmission fluid flush and filter for $400. So maybe he figured he made off there. Don't go to the dealer for much but I throw them a few jobs when they get messy and involve my warranty.

Yeah, I found this great how to video and in the comments someone mentioned their dealership wanted $860 for replacement. I've heard others mention in discussion threads between $600-$800 from dealerships and $500-$600 at shops. You definitely lucked out because if I could get this done for $95 I'ld be driving to the dealership immediately.
