Default Electronic Sway-Bar Mod?

I am getting ready to do the Locker mod to my Rubicon. I was thinking while I'm running wire through the firewall I'd like to override the Sway-Bar disconnect also. Anybody tried this yet? I would assume it would work like Lockers. (grounding a control wire at the relay)

Also, I understand that diconnecting the sway bar at higher speeds can be very dangerous. But I think this could come in handy on the trails around here where 4lo is not needed as often but increased articulation is nice.

Thanks and Cheers,

Mike

How fast are you talking about going and still wanting increased articulation.
I am getting the impression that you are into a real wild ride. Sounds like possibly it is an accident waiting to happen.

You can disconnect the sway bar with 4-HI. You can drive as fast as 18 mph with sway bar disconnected... when you go over that (18 mph), it will attempt to reconnect. I don't think it's a good idea driving faster than that with sway bar disconnected... even on off-road.

I am not looking for wild ride. I was under the impression that you could only disconnect in 4lo. We have lots of mud and slick trails around here, wheel speed is important and 4lo is not needed most of the time.

For the most part, I haven't seen the need for extreme articulation in mud pits. I wouldn't worry about it too much. It is designed for 4lo primarly, but I think it will work in 4 hi under a certain speed (don't quote me though). Go out to your Rubi and check. If it blinks at you, that means it never did disengage, but if you get a solid SWAY BAR light, it disengaged.

You can dissconnect in 4hi? I thought it only worked in 4lo. If thats the case then I'm not going to mess with it.

Thanks

Yes, you can disconnect in 4HI. Not just in 4LO. I've done it few times... you can drive with Sway Bar disconnected on trail (off-road) in 4HI. When you go over 18 mph, the "Sway Bar" light flashes and try to reconnect. Once you slow down to below 18 mph, it will again attempt to disconnect ("Sway Bar" light stop flashing).

You can confirm that in Owner's Manual (P.287~289).

The one only work in 4LO is axle lock.

Default sway bar

I don't understand why you would want to do this. any body that owned a tj would have wanted to have this option at a touch of a button. instead you had to get off your jeep to conect or disconect. or spend the extra money buying a sistem that did not need it to be disconected.

It seems to work in 4 high for me, unless I go over 20 MPH.
