Default Engine light after evap relocation

I didn't disconnect the batter before relocationg my evap canister and got the gas cap light a couple of times then got the yellow engine light.

Any way I can reset the computer?

I am pretty sure it has been discussed here before, but I couldn't find it.

Don't want to sound stupid, but why just the negative? I have had the battery completely out and still have the problem.

Once you pull the negative cable you have broken the battery polarity. Pulling the ground is just the same as pulling the battery. It is also safer to remove the ground, as when you reinstall you don't have to worry and hitting something grounded with your wrench while on the pos post...

Makes sense. Any guess as to why the engine light is still on?

Run the diagnostic, key on/off 3 times....most likely it wasn't the only code that got thrown out there....you may have others

exactly. there's a good chance that you have a "gas cap" code in there. also, if all your connections are good and you have no leaks, it'll actually go off on its own.

My '07's check eng. light came on 2 times and took to dealer. They ended up finding a pin hole in the evap. line by the battery. Tne line is right next to the battery and rubs against it.
Checked my friends 4dr. and foun his was almost worn through also.
So maby check that at least a just in case?

Can you post a pic of this line to get an idea of exactly which one you mean?

When you relocated did you properly re-seat the gasket on the evap canister? The green one about 2" in diameter inside of the twist off piece (sorry dont know the tech terms). If that isnt seated right you will throw a code, had it happen to a friend of mine. Seat the gasket on the canister side and re attach the twist off piece.

I just did mine last week and didnt unhook the battery (wasnt in Woods instructions) and have not had a problem since.
