err... what gears do I have?

Did you buy new? used? 'cause if you bought used and it has a tow hitch receiver...doesn't mean it's 'tow package' equipped...meaning no gaurantees you have 4.10
By far the quickest way is to jack it up and spin the tire to see like AZJeeper says...just be safe about it...
you can go ahead and email away all you want, good luck getting an answer 'cause they never returned ANY of my requests...
you can go to the dealer with you VIN to find out...again, good luck.
Just jack it up and spin the tire....and if both spin in the same direction you may even have the LSD, spin in opposite directions you have an open carrier

My Jeep garage ran the VIN for my option codes, and I got 4 pages of everything on my Jeep! It's from "STAR NETWORK", and the first 5 listings are axles, differentials, and GEAR RATIO. (PS "DMC"=3.21)

I have a 2009 X Unlimited (bought it new), auto trans, and it came with the tow hitch receiver. Does that mean I have 4:10 Gears? On the Window Sticker I could have sworn it said 3:73 gears.

07's that came with the tow package came with 4.10's, 08,09's think they changed it to 3.73's. for x's and sahara

I think we should have an old post thread where someone picks a topic, we look at the other threads on said topic and rediscuss what was on that thread and shorten that thread to the bare minimum correct answers and post just that and after we have figured out every single thing that can go wrong with the jk we'll just have a list, no forum after that. But,what fun would that be?

In 2008 and 2009 the 4.10 gear ratio for tow package on X and Sahara was dropped, and regardless of auto or manual both X and Sahara received the 3.73 gear ratio across the board. The Rubicon retains the 4.10
