Well good luck with pulling the fuse. I had a 2006 liberty that had pretty much the same system only in 4wd there was no full off like there is on our JKs. Im very thankful for that. Another thing is with the liberty it seemed like any large bump in the road would cause it to think i was losing control.

It was really fun going down the highway at 70 with the cruise control on and all of a sudden a bump then im slowing down I hit the gas to resume speed and no response at all. I guess dealing with this system in the past makes me thankful about how it acts in our JKs.

O yea and the reason why I said good luck with pulling the fuse ill explain now. Now im not sure I did it 100% correct cause one would think if you did it would not function correctly but here is what I did. I found the fuse in the fuse box that stated esp and i think anti lock brakes where one fuse. I pulled the fuse out and then started the engine and it seemed correct i had all the lights telling me stuff was wrong the esp abs and the esp is screwed up light all came on but guess what I tried some donuts in the snow and no go

Here is a little video of my liberty. It loved the mud!

O yea and I forgot to add. Esp saved my a$$ more times then id like to admit. Everything from keeping me safe entering an off ramp in the rain to trying to go to fast merging onto the highway in the snow. I know I know these are things that would not happen being a careful driver. Either way I like my esp. The only thing it keeps me from doing is donuts. Those are not good for the tires anyways.

Well I did pull the fuse (J6) and I it drives and behaves like a regular vehicle did some S turns and some emergency type stops and everything was fine! I will definately be wiring in a switch to allow a full off position- It is now FUN to drive. Hopefully someone will come out with a way to reprogram or ? but for now I will just disconnect and drive it!!

I don't need it disconnected all the time, but it sure would be nice once in a while. I really do miss being able to power slide around a corner after a good snow storm and nobody else is around. If guys have pulled the fuse and it does work. I'll probably just work up a switch/fuse combo and see how it works. Joefab do you still have ABS with the J6 fuse pulled?

What warning lights stay on? I would go out and pull the fuse for myself, but my JK is in the shop getting new shoes.

ESP sucks somthing bad in sand. Forces me to stay in 4x4 at all times.

My wife's liberty has a buttom that turns the ESP off completely. Onced turn off a little warning light with a vehical skidding out of control stays on, it is a 2wd.

Default ESP disable info any body want to try??

I saw this on another forum

http://forum.jk*oard.com/viewtopic.p...ht=esp+disable

http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=44728

it seems others have tried this already on the JK (not me yet....) still waiting for more input/tests. It seems that somebody with a Chrysler 300 series which has ESP & CanBus as well has installed a switch. This in turn disables the ESP Canbus module. This just like ours is under the passenger seat. Seems to be the same color wires as well.... Hum.... Anyone want to try this? The question they/I have is with the canbus module off I assume the computer see's this as an error and therefore it's stored in the computer for some service tech to read at the shop at a later time. "Hum... Wonder why the XXXX module failure code came up...." "I see now..." "Warranty voided."

I hope this isn't a volation since the other links are not for "sales" type items but purely for the information.

The idea of just pulling fuses hits a gray-area for me. The fuse for the ESP, BAS, TCS, ABS, etc is linked to the Primary Fuel-pump Relay...... Now jeep may have designed the system with another fuse for it, for safety concerns, but it seems kinda unlikely... Jeep designers are always piggy-backing one system's fuse with another system overlapping. I have never understood this, but it always seems to be done..... When you're pulling out fuses, do you actually know what you're affecting, or are you just guessing?

If anybody here has the stones to try this, I'd love to hear how it works out. Can't quite bring myself to do wiring harness surgery on a six week old vehicle. Sounds like a good solution though. As to "stored fault codes" the simple solution would be to get one of those fairly inexpensive fault reader/reset devices. Just make sure you do it before taking it to a dealer.
