There seems to be no ryme or reason or constant factor, that I've seen, that all people with ESP problems are having. Like Rubimon said, hard and soft tops could be one of many factors also, because of center of gravity issues.
Very true.

marionnc has a soft top. Our lifts were installed at the same place. I have a hard top with bigger rims and smaller tires. My ESP was not acting up as bad as his. Mine was corrected with the flash and the "Clock spring" or steering angle sensor. Installed by the same dealer that wants to install a clock spring on his jeep. I say it cant hurt. It fixed mine. I read the column collar post link above. That is very interesting and something I plan to mention to my dealer just for info sharing.

Do you know the part #(s) they used?

The new clockspring is $252 and part # 68000477aa

I dont know the cost. It was under warranty...... no charge. My dealer is lift friendly. They also upgraded the speedometer etc. as close to tire size as possible.

I noticed today post lift and alignment, there is a strong pull to the right. the steering wheels appears to be straight but at about 20mph the pull to the right begins. any ideas if this might be responsible for the esp problem. also, what do i need to do to correct this issue?

thanks,
john

They pull to the right due to not having an adjustable trac bar. The rear thrust angle stays out of whack. To fully align the jeep, you need the trac bar for correct rear thrust angle, adjustable lower control arms to change caster.
It takes longer to bleed the brake due to the abs module.

I think the esp and the pull are related. I don't see how the clock spring involves the esp at all. The clockspring is coiled wires to connect the horn and the airbag to the rest of the wiring harness.

do you think the esp issues would improve with adjustable trac bars and control arms? my jeep seems to be geting worse as time goes on. the systems activated about 10 times today. it activated with my wife driving and she may be one of the most cautious driver i know. there has to be something out there that will help with this problem. are there any lift systems out there that are not experiencing these issues?

thanks for the help,
john

I got new tires and rims recently on my 2 door JK (285/75/16) it does not have a lift and I did not get the computer flashed but the ESP was turning on frequently and it was on corners that I was not going very fast and especially when I went over a bump at the same time. One time the ESP BAS light came on. I cleared the ESP BAS light by pressing and holding the ESP button. The ride was a little stiff after the new tires so I checked the tire pressure and it was 47 psi I dropped it down to 30 psi and now all is fine. I drove the same route to work and aimed at potholes around corners and ESP has not turned on yet.

I will let you know soon, my control arms are going on tomorrow. However, I have put the front track bar on a while ago, and also have done the upper control arms in the front. I think my esp goes off very little now. One cloverleaf in particular used to make it go off the whole way through. Now it only goes of for the last few feet before I straighten out. Once again though, I don't have my hard top on, which I believe plays a big role in the activation process.

I'm am not familiar with what came with your kit, just springs and shocks? Any track bar brackets, bump stops, etc.

Also the previous comment about tire pressure is a good one. My tire shop put 40 psi in mine. I am now running closer to 26psi. Much better ride and even tire wear. Do the chalk test to prove it.
