I am thinking of protecting the EVAP box. What is best relocate it or protect it.

There are few options available

Die Tech to relocate it
Bench Mark Designs to protect it

there are other products too like rockhard, Kilby, etc

so which one should I go for?

 

depends on what you wheel. I'd say if yo are crawling rocks all th etime then relocate it.... for me the Benchmark was more than sufficient

 

i went with the rock hard last week. wow. easy install. just remove the 3 stock bolts, place the skid and bolt back up. very stout. one less thing to worry about.

 

If you skid it you can still get hung up on it, I've seen both rocks and mud rip them off. I used the Kilby kit to relocate it, easy no drill installation don't have to worry about it anymore. It looks like Die Tech pretty much copied Kilby's design.

 

If you have a lift check out riverraiders evap skid plate. I had one it's really nice and stout, but I'm not running a lift right now so I had to return it. Hate when that happens.

 

how in the world can mud rip off a skid

 

I'm using a Rock Hard skid on mine.

 

I vote for moving it. I used Woods kit to move mine, no issue whatsoever since (did it about two years ago).


Why add weight when you dont need to?

 

i think relocating is a good idea.

Does the check engine light comes on when relocating??? is there something to watch out

 

I used a Woods Relocation kit.

Another benefit it allows for more choices if you need to change your exhaust. Frees up space.
