Default Exactly how bad can it be?

So I have my 2" Rustys lift coming and and one of my coworkers (self proclaimed jeep guru) asked if I was going with 33s or 35s. I told him I wanted to go with 35s and he strongly advised against it. He went on and on about having even less mpg and also HAVING TO regear. I told him I knew that already and I didn't really want to regear. But he was very persistent that I would be having a helluva struggle at higher speeds without regearing and that its not worth it. My question is......how bad can it really be? I can't afford to regear.

I had a 2010 jku auto with 33s and I used a superchips, which you can't with a 2011. Your friend is correct, going with 35s will not be fun if this is a daily driver or you drive highway. Mine was horrible on the interstate.... IF you go with 35s you will want to regear..... This is my opinion and you may hear different but I can say I was not at all happy with the drive with 33s on it.... and I wasn't expecting 0-60 in 6 secs.... save up and regear...

You can do it but it sucks, esp. with steep or even mild inclines. I ran for a short while and hated highway driving, your O/D is completely gone too. If you drive around town or live in a flat area you won't really care that much otherwise budget it into your future mods. Others will say that it's fine and you can run like that for good, but with my personal experience for how slow the engine is already I'd like to not move as fast as a tree stump getting onto the highway.

Get 35's, drive with OD off, get superchip, save for regear. Hell, most 35's are only 33-34in anyway.
The 3.8 auto is pretty gutless with anything bigger than stock tires, might aswell get what you want.
I drove this way for a year before regearing.

I have 35s on my 09 JKUR and have had them since a month after I bought my rig brand new. I have not had it regeared and I lost balls, went from16 to 12 mpg, engine run like crap up hills or trying to get speed up entering the freeway and mow my trani and front diff fluid is show bad at service. I am getting the gears done this Monday at off road evolution and I'm sooooooo glad to finally get it done (re: funds). I have 35s on a 4" stage 4 lift........don't go with the 33s. 35s look perfect.

Does this "jeep guru" have a lifted jeep? If so what size tires is he running? It sounds to me like he doesn't want you to have a jeep that is more B.A. than his lol.

Go with the 35's if that's what you wanna do, other people have done it and will keep doing it......I did

Yeah, 35s have always what I've wanted to go with. The only reason 33s have ever been an option for me is due to the cons I've heard about 35s. So that just goes to show how that isn't something I want to do. I guess I will have to budget for gears in the future and suck it up until then. I used to drive a Toyota Tundra Megacab with. 6 " lift and 37s so I'm used to the poor mpg.
