Default Exhaust...........

Hey guys.... mornin

I am looking to swap out my exhaust

I want high flow, and high performance, also with a strong can so I don't crush it

the trick though is I don't want anything really loud......... I kinda like offroading now and being to hear everything around me ( I always used to put on the meanest sounding raven I could find lol )

any suggestions?

I am also thinking snorkel ( when they come availible for the jk ) and a jet 2 performance chip

I'm having a flowmaster 40 series installed on mine, when I stopped by the shop they had just finished installing one on another jk and it sounded perfect...not loud but a little growl to it. plus it will increase your torque (what there is of it anyway) and the mpg a little.

Best mod in the world is to just unbolt the current muffler and pull it off of its hangers.

Triggering on the 'strong can' portion of your comments... I think Gibson by far has the heaviest duty mufflers. Last Tahoe I had, went over a mound that really tested my breakover angle and had to really get on it to slide over to avoid getting hung up and high centered... the Gibson muffler took all the beating (and I mean a hard hit) and it completely held up with just a dent.

What I have now is the Magnaflow moved up under the body (like in the write-ups section) and for me, it's too loud. I like to hunt, and out driving around looking for the turkeys the rumble sucked... it's impossible now to sneak up to an area with any of the gas pedal pushed. Foot off the gas pedal, it's not bad... Also, back on the 'strong can' -- the Magnaflow doesn't come close to the Gibson in this area - IMO.

They made hold up to punishment well, but I've heard a lot, and I mean alot of bad things about Gibson products rusting out very quickly and not lasting anywhere near the time frame that they should. I have no personal experience with this, just what I read and heard form numerous people that have used Gibson. As a matter of fact histrung, you are the first person I that I recall making a positive comment about Gibson.

Any companies out there making "bolt-on" exhaust systems? No welding required?

Default cooltech llc...

Hey guys, I recently purchased the "bolt-on" Cooltech LLC exhaust system for the new unlimited... I haven't installed yet, but it not only replaces the cat back components, it also relocates the location of the can (higher & towards the center of the rig / running parrallel w/the driveline). Can't wait to install & post some comments regarding this, but I doubt I'll be able to until next weekend. If you get a chance to google cooltech llc, check out their items... - JK specific... cool site w/great customer service and quick shipping...
