I believe that the cooltech llc exhaust would work perfectly for you. Its cheap and not loud at all. Definitely throaty, especially with a high flow intake.

The problem that I have with folk's opinions about Flowmaster, Magnaflow, etc, is what's great to one person is too loud to another. Folks pass me in their modified trucks and they sound horrible--loud and obnoxious. But they have the decals of their chosen brand of muffler on the rear window. My 1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am has the perfect exhaust sound. Pleasant burble at idle, and sufficient throatiness to make you feel good, without overriding the sound of four barrels opening up (I've opened the hood scope). That's what I want: Quiet, elegant, throatiness. Not loud at all. Any recommendations?

I am with you 100% in the "want" category. I think replacing the factory muffler on any vehicle adds great benefit, but finding one that suits your taste is not easy when putting it on a V6. I am going to try running the Magnaflow muffler with a resonator inline to hopefully tone down the note, but not reduce the flow by much. This may be the only option when running an aftermarket free-flow muffler if you want quiet under normal operating, and a nice mellow tone when on the throttle. I just need to get under the JK this weekend and start measuring.

Does anything hit the suspension? In your pic, it looks like the exhaust pipes might run on the sway bar. How much did it cost?

I had local muffler do an installation like Cooltec sells except I used/ provided a BORLA Turbo Muffler part number 40653 on my Unlimited Rubi. Sounds throaty when you are on the gas and good going down the road. Muffler was $115.00 through Summit. Installation was $100.00

I used a S.S. Magnaflow just like the Cooltech kit, used that factory heat shield in the new location and had a tailpipe made up and welded in. The shop told me $40 to weld the muffler in and make a tailpipe, but in the end I got a freebee. Total cost=$100.... for the muffler shipped. So most anyone could get this done for $150.

I agree. I've had the cooltech exhaust for about 3 months now and love it. Its not to loud, but you can still hear it.
