Default Exhaust restriction

After reading many exhaust thread, I need one clarification. So, if i understand correctly, and from looking at the exhaust piping on the JK (2 dr), it seems like the only restriction on the stock system is the factory muffler right? It's my understanding that the factory piping are all mandrel bent.

please correct me if i'm wrong. If this is the case, i don't see any reason to by any full cat back system. Any thought?

I believe you are correct.......The performance gain from a more perfect bend would be unnoticeable in our 3.8's.. I really like that new cool tech design that puts the muffler in front of rear axle... Changeing your muffler alone will give more of a free flow and better sound .... Might be hard to find a muffler that will fit in stock location without a complete kit but dont know for sure..

well, since our stock muffler is HUGE, i'm sure i can get any universal magnaflow with some custom mandrel bent pipe to perfectly fit in there.

Thanks for the clarification

The exhaust manifolds on our jk's is the most restrictive part..Although cats are bad as well..I personally am going to get a whole off road system as soon as someone makes one..

I don't see the piont in changing just the cat back either..You get minimal performance gain..Just for sound for some I suppose..

Only if the company that produces them doesn't make any provision for it..I had a ZO6 before this JK and when I ordered my "offroad exhaust"it came with O2 sensor simulators to trick the computer into thinking everything was still in place..

No codes,no problems..It can all be taken care of with a properly designed kit..I am sure if any company will mass produce a full exhaust for the JK they will take into account the computers operation and codes..
