Default Extended Brake Cables & ABS Cable

I'm going to install extended brake lines. How does that affect the ABS cables? Do they need to be extended as well?

Thanks.

**EDIT** Additional searching has found me some information... but not quite an answer...

You can get slack outta the abs lines by un clipping them in spots on the frame and such.

Care to elaborate a little... I am not sure I am picturing what you're describing.

The stock ABS wire is long enough (with some careful adjustments to the routing) for about a 4' lift. The wire itself will slide through the grommets to get additional clearance, you can also remove the gommets from their mounts to get clearance. Leave the grommet closest to the wheel attached and remove the rest from the mounts.

Then do a flex test to check your brake and ABS line length and routing.

the abs line is run over and under in a couple spots. the rubber that is clipped into the metal clip, if u undo that u can re-route the abs line to get more slack from it.

you might have to remove the sensor or unclip it up in your wheel well to be able to re-route. mine just come straight down now

Ok... that makes sense.

I had removed the grommets from the mounts (except, like you said, the one closet to the hub I left alone), however fear caused me to re-seat them in their mounts as I feared that grommet might get caught on something (during flexing, road vibration) and cause the ABS line to bind and snap.

Sounds like I just need to re-remove them and I should be good, especially considering I'm only running a 3.25" lift.

the rear abs line runs under the axle and connects to the back of the caliper, you can disconnect the plug and reroute the wire to above the axle there is a lot of extra wire in the back.

plus you may want to find a place before you extend the brake lines so you can bring it there to have the lines bled... you might need a place that has a abs scanner to bleed the system...
