So, I know the difference between the spacers and the coil lift, but what are the differences (performance, quality, etc.) between the coil lift, short arm, and long arm kits?? Is it worth the extra money for an occasional off-roader??THANKS!!

depends on what you are going to do. I feel that spacers will give a harsher ride compared to a coil lift. while spacers give you more ground clearence, they dont give that much more suspension travel.

a long arm kit is a nice setup, you can dial in the ride perfect. But it also costs a arm and a leg. I got my 3inch coil lift including tires for less then 1300 bucks.

I can only speak from my perspective. I have a generic X Unlimited. No options at all... I put the RC 2.5 BB with Spacers on my toy. I love it. I realize it's not made to be hardcore offroaded with this kit, but mine is a daily driver and the lift and bigger tires are strictly for looks. I am very happy with the ride, feels just like stock, but my wife has to jump higher to get in! ha ha

i went with the coil 2.5 TF over just the spacer bb because I didnt want any sagging when i added bumpers etc. i think they problably give a much nicer ride as well..i'm not a h-core offroader but it works well for me and my occasional adventures, i dont think a short arm or long arm would be worth it for me.

As everyone stated it does go to personal needs and wants of who the kit is going to. For me I will be buying the 3" TeraFlex which I have been told will give you aprox 4" lift. It is all good being that I will be added a larger bumber to the front. So IMO no can tell you whats best for you but your self. If you have the money to afford that LA kit go for it but with that you will need the tires and once you go larger more things will need to be upgraded because of more stress on the weaker parts such as cv drive shafts will need to be installed if you decide to use 35 or larger tires it's recommended to upgrade axles shafts internal gears ie ring and pinion. If you want the looks I think a 3" and 33in tires will look nice you don't have to upgrade that much and you can go to alot of places. go with what you like do alot of research and check out all the vehicle in the pic section and find one that you like ask the owner how its set up so you have somewhat of a basis to go off of when you go to purchase the lift for you JEEP

It does lift your jeep, Its a spacer lift. Thats not the point anyhow.

If your going with a 3" lift, especially on a 2 door, You want something with adjustable arms. To adjust your pinion angle.

Theres alot of people that feel the long arm is needed as much on the JK's. Since you have a 2 door they'll be a bigger difference with the long arm and short arm kits. Short arms offer a stiffer ride because of the steeper angle of the control arms, the long arms takes that away.

This is my second Jk build, I'm just going all out with a Long arm.

I would have made one poll for coils vs spacers and another for long vs "short" arms.

I think he ment the first to reply, not the op.
refering to the spacers having a ruff ride.

I feel that spacers will give a harsher ride compared to a coil lift.

So the stock arms on the 2dr do not adjust enough? I was just going to go with a simple lift and add on down the road but I don't want to mess anything up.

Great thread BTW.

i started out with a 2.5 spacer kit just cause it was cheap. now i have a short arm coil which i love, but when i got the spacer kit i knew i would go to a coil when i could i just had to get the funds for it.I ran the spacer kit for just under a year with no problems, before i moved on to what i have now. so if you have the money(or won't take you long to save it)i would go with a coil without a doubt.now long arm or short arm i can't tell you much except on my next Jeep i will do the long arm just so i don't ever say "i wish i would of went with the long arm"
