KCTW that looks great! I wish I had the room for that. TXBeachJK, I did something similar to yours. I used simple eye hooks and cargo straps. I used some pieces of foam between the straps and the top for extra protection. Total cost under $20.

I work for a construction company that has an structural engineer on staff. He designed a bracing system up in there so it was safe to cut the joists. There is a bean running the length of the opening up at the peak, and then alot of bracing around where we cut the joists. It's been up there for two years now with no sag.

Cool. I did residential electrical for a long time. So I kinda understand what your sayin.

If you use the tie down straps with ratchets how do you lower the top back down dont the ratchets work just 1 way up?

I lower them, you just open and pinch the lock release. You then lower each side a little at a time until. The top doesn't weigh that much so it's pretty easy to do.
