Pulling the carpet is easy, just start pulling. As far as it looking good bare metal, that is in the eye of the beholder. I personally did not like it and had mine Line-Xed. At a bare minimum I would get the rubber floor mats and put them over the metal and it should look fine. I like the Mopar ones that look like mud tracks.
I took my carpet out when it was pristine and put it in my attic and so when I sell it, its like new.
