Default Factory Carpets?

I just recently bought my JK last week and had a question for those of you who have owned one for any length of time. First how do the factory carpets hold up? Are they going to get hit with a rainstorm and be ruined or do they hold out. On my YJ I took out all the carpets and had the entire inside Linxed and was wondering if I should just go ahead and do that with the JK. I will take pictures of what the YJ looked like if any of you were wondering and post them.

I have seen posts from at least one person who has already linex'd their interior. I'd think that over the years the carpet quality has gotten better.. But personally if you'll be leaving doors and windows off it's almost better to just remove carpet. I did with my TJ and will eventually do it with the JK I'm sure.

I pulled my carpet out early. The Yes Essential Seats are doing well with the elements, but the carpet was quick to start picking up that musty smell.

My carpet should last years and years. Its in the attic all folded up nice. Of course the only person to ever see it in my Jeep again will be its new owner when I die...

my carpet has gotten rained on a lot and I just spray it with some industrial carpet cleaner like formula 409 and it smells fresh and new.

I know a lot of people roll with the Husky floor liners. Assuming you want to leave the carpet in there, these floor liners will protect them rather nicely. Line'X is another alternative, although more expensive I would imagine.

Hey guys how do you remove the carpet? and will the Jeep look fine without carpet? I am planning on just leaving it bare metal.

I would imagine you would just find an edge and start pulling. I've driven a couple JKs that had the carpet removed and it looked good.

Here's a thread about removing the carpet:
