Thumbs up 20" rims 35s with 1 1/2 Spacers

I got my tires today and even thou it got dark before I could tkae some nice pictures here it is. I have 20" MotoMetal w 35" Grapplers but had to use the 1 1/2" spacers because they rubbed on the inside. They do rub on the front bumper if I turn wide but there is some extra threads so I and going to put spacers on the bumper to give it some space this weekend

I'm running a 3" FT Premium w/35's and I would rub just ever so slightly when I stuffed my tire up into the fender. It'd rub on the fender a little in front. So running a 2" w/35's would make for a good chance you'd rub at full flex. I went on and put a 1" M.O.R.E. Body Lift on and no more problems.

As far as running 36's w/out a lift but w/flat tube fenders... I have no doubt it'd work as a DD but off road at full flex, I seriously doubt it Personally I haven't tried it, but if my math serves me right, you'd basically gain about 3" in your wheel wells due to the flat fender. And if I'm running 35's and rubbed ever so slightly w/35's and I have a 3" lift (~3" extra in the wheel wells), then I'd imagine w/36" tires, you'd be back to where I was or slightly worse. If you stay on the road you'd be fine though, as long as your 36's cleared your front bumper and plastic skid plate underneath (if it's still on there).

Doubt if you must, but if you look at the first pic, the front bumper is now a "stubby-stock" thanks to a sawsall. And I did trim about an inch off the rear of the rocker guard.

I did say it did rub abit with people in the back, Im not saying it works the way I want and looking into which lift I want. It doesnt flex near enough, I need more, but wanting to keep a low center of gravity... My Tj had 5.5 RE Long Arm w/ 1" body, hated the off camber side hill stuff. Just trying to avoid the same with my new one.

Back to topic...

Not 'doubting'... just speaking from experience. I think you pretty much summed up the concerns/issues I've seen.... w/a little trimming it can work but you'll still have a little rubbing.

BTW, good looking Jeep
