For my Currie Dana 60s it is recommended to heat up the gears than let it completely cool, then do this again. Clean and change the gear oil at abou t300 miles. After, you are ready to go.
There are a big difference between race an street gears. Race gears are softer and bend under the impact of being popped with big torque that would snap a harder set of street gears. Street gears being harder do not give as much but last for say a couple hundred thousand miles and a set of race gears will last a season if you're lucky.
Hey MK-Dubai... don't you have a hemi? Or am I mixing you up with someone else? I did like others mentioned with the short trips and letting them cool, going easy on them for the first 500. I ran dino gear oil for the first 500 also, then went to royal purple. May not be the right way, but it is the way that works for me. Congrats on the gears.
