The JK D44's don't take the gears that are available for TJ D44's, etc. I'm not sure exactly why, if it's the high pinion or what.

Just got my estimate from dealer to change my 3:21's out to 4:10's and he informed me that the only available gears was a 4:11"s and it would be $2,000.00 for the swap. Could not give me an answer as to why they sell them with 4:10's and don't offer them as parts. Most of the cost was labor anyway. I will wait for some used gears from someone here doing a 4:88 swap and pay a local shop to do the swap and setup.

4.10 and 4.11 are the same. One axle may technically be 4.10 and the other might be technically 4.11, also.

I'm not sure about this, Mike from Superior Axle or someone else who is more familiar with the gear changing process can say for certain, but I think there are more parts necessary to go from 3.21 to 4.10 than just the gears.

I don't think the labor should be more than 3-4 hours per axle though. $2,000 sounds WAY too high.

Can those of us unfortunate enough to have 3.21 go up to the 4.88 without needing a new carrier?
