Default FIRST POST - Bighorn Tires

Anyone care to comment on the wear / durability of Maxxis Bighorns? Looking at 255/85 R16. Also like the KM2's and Firestone MTs

I'm a Land surveyor in South LA, and work offroad daily.

I prefer the BFG KM2s. I have the KM but the KM2 is quieter, more durable, and even better offroad. I just got a good deal on these.

I've been on a set of 315/75-15 Bighorns for about 10,000 miles. No durability or traction concerns anywhere, but they aren't going past 20K.

I'm running 245/75/16's and have had no issues with them at all... A little noisy on the pavement but thats a given... You should really consider the BFG KM2's... I just ordered a set of 315/75/16's and cant wait to put them on!! A few guys here at work swear by them, as well as a few buddies on this forum...

I would look at the Cooper STT. They run a slightly harder compound. Offroad traction isnt quite as good, but they will last longer on the street. They also have better sidewall protection than the KM2's.

There is also the new GoodYear MTR with Kevlar, which is very quiet on the road for an agressive tire. Not sure on longevity though, they have not been out long. But they are arguably the strongest radial out there.
