Default Fixed Death Wobble!!!!

Ok, I had asked for help a month or so ago in getting my PSC ram installed (I needed a bracket to allow mounting the PSC ram tabs).

I wanted to get the PSC ram for a few reasons, 1). It would make turning much easier with larger tires locked. 2.) It would be the best steering damper I could come up with 3.) it would hopfully solve my death wobble.

Well, little did i know that my steering gemometry was WAY off after doing the Tereflex 4" LCG lift. The drag link and the tie rod are supposed to be parallel to each other (I didn't know this).

While I was tring to get help in getting a bracket it was pointed out to me about the angles of the steering setup and so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone and get a place to mount my hydro-ram as well as correct my steering!!

I tried calling local shops to build me a bracket and when i was quoted $700 to build a single bracket I decided to do it!!

Here is what I came up with:

BEFORE

AFTER

You can feel free to knock me on this but it cost me $50 and not $700. The best part!! I have no steering stabilizer or PSC ram on yet (as you can see in the pictures) and I was able to hit the trouble spots (always provoked death wobble before) now with the new bracket and I got ZERO bump steer or death wobble!!!!!

to say I am happy is an understatement!!!

I must admit, I am disabpointed with Tereflex for not addressing this steering gemometry up front when you do the lift. You would need either a pitman drop arm or do what i did to correct the geometry (at least I would think). I love their product and the kit is awesome so far, but looks to me like it would make sence for those guys to include or at least tell you that you need to do something to correct this. Maybe this is not the case and my issues were exagerated due to the ProRocks??

At any rate, I am SOOO happy!!

All I have to do now is install the PSC pump, Gear box, and Ram

I think you mean the track bar and drag link

Glad you got your problem sorted out. However, to me it looks like you have a high steer setup on the passenger side knuckle and you've in turn changed the angle of your drag link without changing the track bar. I don't think this it Teraflex's fault. Either way, I'm glad it goes down the road safely now.

Yeah, that is probably the case, as I stated I didn't know if it was due to the ProRock setup or not. I couldn't remember what the stock axles setup looked like in my mind.

Thank you, and i am very much happy now and can drive my Jeep without the death grip on the steering wheel any more.

Nice fix! I know the feeling when you overcome something that has made you want to get rid of your jeep!

Glad to hear it! I saw your original post about the bracket problem. Do you have any pics of the bracket you built not installed? My PSC will be ordered in about a week and installed shortly there after and I'm curious what I will need to do.

I don't have any pictures of the work in progress, but i am more than willing to help you out with designing one. However, I think the only reason i had to do this modification was because of the ProRock Axles. If you have the stock JK axles, PSC has a bracket setup for the stock axle that you don't have to fabricate anything.

What axles do you have?

Looks great and it does the job! I know building my own jeep parts always gives me a sense of pride and makes my jeep feel more like MY jeep. I bet fixing your dw w/ a part you made that wasn't even available brings you closer to your jeep than ever.

I had some dw a few months after I installed my lift and i really lost a lot of trust in my jeep for a while (even after I fixed the problem not knowing if it really was fixed for sure), feels great to diagnose and fix a problem like that.
