Default King Shocks - Really Specific to Shop?

I'm shopping/searching for King shock's with and without resi's....still not sure which way I'm going. I'm coming across a ton of shops that sale the replacement shocks, you pick your size, etc..yada yada. Some claim they are spec'd or valved to their spec's. Im wondering if thy really are, or King builds these shocks and sends them out as is to all vendors, shops, stores, etc. Any insiders have any info regarding this, they all the same? a King, a King? Go for the best deal, or go for the spec'd ones that some brands, shops claim to have developed with King that works in conjunction with their suspension kits. if Kings are rebuildable, revalvedable, couldn't I just have them revalved pending my driving style?

Cheers!

The ones claiming they are spec'd to them revalue the shocks themselves to work beat with their kits.
