Default Front bench seat

I've done some searching and found quite a few who thought this idea would be useful, but not much info on getting it done.
I have a 2 door. I had to take the rear seat out to hold my search and rescue gear. I was in a truck with a bench seat,my two small dogs and my husband. I thought 'hey, this might work for my Jeep since its so small.'
Anyone done this?

The JK interior must be as narrow as a 70's Japanese pickup, so finding a seat could be interesting. Then there are all the mounting brackets to fabricate, shift levers to finish around, seat sensors to bypass, and more. Plus the seat won't be as good as the JK buckets.

If its a place for small dogs you are after, why not remove the lid from the console and build a carpeted "perch" for the dogs to hang out. It could reach forward until it interferes with the shifter, and rearward until it runs into your load in the back. Small dogs love to ride up high in the vehicle anyway.
