Default Front bumper rack?

I'm looking for a removable rack that would attach to the front bumper, hopefully it would just attach to the tow hooks or something. I just need something to carry firewood and that kind of thing, so I don't want it there full time.

I've thought about the above-the-spare racks like the Garvin "trail rack" but it seems like those type of racks would block the view out of the rear window.

Any suggestions? The roof rack is full

Which bumper would you like this rack to attach to?

Ever thought about a self-fabrication design. Shouldn't be that hard assuming you have a drill and some know-how.

Heres what comes to my mind. Like the Fishing Racks. A couple of poles or a basket and some bolts (maybe a U-Bolt <-- Not to be confused with U-Boat lol ), washers, a couple of nuts and some holes in the right places and I would think you could make it work nice.

But definately plan it out first. Don't just get drill happy.

And besides, worst case scenario, you have a reason for a new front bumper.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too... always up for a little self-fabrication. A U-Boat would be good, though maybe a little expensive

Anybody know how badly the rear view is obstructed by those over-the-spare racks? I would not keep anything on there normally, but it seems like the rack is not exactly transparent.

I doubt you're gonna have much visibility. The tire itself takes up a good amount of viewing room. But to be honest, I rarely use my rearview mirror anyways. I always use the side ones.

Good luck.

I was thinking about this a while back because I picked up a Warn winch mount for the factory bumper, but still havent gotten a winch. I thought about mounting the plate anyway and you can bolt almost anything to that. What ya think?

One question. Are you considering a rack or basket for a front or rear bumper. You've referred to both.
