An aftermarket bumper would have as much or more effect on a crash pulse (airbag deployment) than spacing the factory bumper.

im pretty sure the airbag sensor is in the cabin, and not behind the bumper.. removing those crush cans should make the airbags deploy sooner, (the sensor will see more G-Force in a similar impact) which I could care less about, Ive eaten a few airbags in my day..

This is what I had heard but wasn't sure. I will try and space the bumper this week and give results/pictures on this thread. I'm with you judas, just can't convince the wife.

Well not sure what to say but I did Call ARB Head quaters over here and asked them the question " I am thinking of spacing out my front arb bumper and the repsonse was NO they said the spacing do effect the air bag depoyemnent in case of an accident it might not deploy when it is needed..

INteresting, I would have thought the bumper would effect the deployment more than spacing it. They have been doing this for awhile (had the bull bar on my TJ). Anyone else have any professional insight?
