Default Front driveshaft clearance mod

Does anybody know the size of spacers to use between the skid / cross member brace bolts, I wanna use the spacers to give more clearance between the front drive shaft and cross member. I had my jeep on a lift and at full droop saw the driveshaft was barely touching the cross member to the skid plate. never saw this till I installed my bilsteins

I have a 4 inch lift. Best bet is to notch the skid plate,BUT the drive shaft will rub on the side of the transmission on an auto. That's why I finally replaced mine.

Send a message to MKJeep. He posted pics of using washers to lower the skid, cutting a notch out of it, and also cutting off the metal band and replacing with a zip tie. (All of my saved threads have disappeared yet again, and I'm too lazy to look for it...)

x2 notch the skid. Takes about an hour total time.

You need a sawzall, and a rattle can of black paint.

Mark the skid plate up on the vehicle pull it off and hack away.

However at full articulation stuff on PS side and drop on DR side you will make contact with the automatic oil pan and it will tear the driveshaft boot. When I installed the OME LT shocks I tore the boot the first time out.

same here, I tore my boot. My only question is what is the possible troubles that can arise from a torn boot if I dont get it fixed anytime soon???

It covers the slip joint between the two halves of the driveshaft. People are driving without that boot for extended periods, so it's not a huge issue, just pull it apart and grease it on a semi-regular basis. (you don't want it locking up into a single shaft and damaging the tcase/pinion on articulation)

None of the aftermarket double cardans use a boot there, but they all have zerks for greasing.
