As strong, if undamaged. Diameter significantly increases strength. The rzeppa joints can take more torque than a 1310 joint. I don't post opinion or speculation. I post facts. If you have factual data that contradicts that, I'd look forward to reading it.

Do you have factual data backing up your claim? If the stock shafts are so strong why is it not uncommon to see threads and pics of them twisted like a pretzel? I've not seen any pretzelized aftermarket shafts. I'm sure they are out there but I'd put money on it they aren't as common.

As noted, once the body of it is damaged, they are weak sauce. From the OPs description, he twisted it pulling someone out. One ton trucks with 20k pound tow ratings have thin wall, large diameter shafts. They're strong until you damage them or over torque them.

If the OP over torqued a stock shaft, he'll eat 1310 u joints.

I'll look up the data tomorrow. I'll spare you a lesson in statistics, but will point out the obvious that there are over 1mm JKs driving around and maybe .5% have aftermarket shafts? I saw plenty of TJs and XJs blow up 1310 joints this year. Doesn't take much for a fat JK to do it.

The single ujoint in the factory shaft is larger than a 1310 ujoint.

Factory shaft has a larger OD which makes it stronger. If it gets hit on a rock/road debris, etc, this makes it very weak very fast.

Same principle as crushing a beer can. I can stand on top of an empty can all day long at 200+lbs. But put a small dent in the side and it is crushed instantly!

Same thing with stock driveshaft.

JK rzeppa 2,150 lb/ft
1310 1,850 lb/ft

JK rzeppa can't take as much angle but run smoother than a double cardan.

Different aftermarket shafts have different wall thickness that effects strength. For the wall itself, I'd buy the argument aftermarket could be stronger due to thicker wall. Diameter still matters though.

Sent from some string and a few tin cans.

To descalate the situation my question is simple. I have 3" of lift and 35"s. I have yet to change out the DSs. Nothing is failing or damaged yet but shud I get ahead of the power curve and replace them? Thx guys.

The point we are getting at is that a 1310 shaft is not stronger than a stock shaft. If you don't have issues with your shafts, keep them. If you want something stronger, then get 1350s.
