Default Front shock hoops

I see on pretty much every type of offroad vehicle, Toyota, other model Jeeps, trucks, etc. that they offer and a lot of people use shock hoops. I can see being able to adjust your shock positioning for custom up and down travel as being beneficial and being able to run longer shocks without using coil overs. Yes I know the benefits of coil overs but I'm not getting coil over. I know on my jeep that I can't find a shock that offers just the right amount of up and down travel without altering the shock position some. So why do people not use this technique on JKs or do they and I'm not finding it?

There is no room for the cross brace the hoops in the JK engine compartment without major work relocating the stuff in there. Most of the tower designs out there are stronger and have more weld surface over a hoop set up that has a lot of leverage placed upon it.

Ok cool. I figured there had to be some reason considering the number of kits you see for the older jeeps.

Most of the jk guys who want to run customs shocks will change out the stock shock tower for a ford shock tower that way they can run longer shocks

I did something similar to that but made my own mounts , I now run 12" long body shocks

Yup there dirt cheap. I was able to fit a 12" travel shock on stock mounts though. But see alot of ford towers. I chose hoops but will be adding a cross bar over the motor.

I can say first hand,, towers in the JK are a Pain in the ars! Had to put the computer on its side,, ditched the windshield washer fluid reservoir, no more air box(had to go K&N),, and the crossbar is seriously tight. But,, it is soo sweeet!

Wow Big Dr that's a pretty insane shock setup!

What Ford are y'all getting these off of, any install pics? May be more modding than I'm interested in. 12" shocks sounds nice especially since I'll never be able to get coil overs.
