Default Front shock removal

Guy's
I was looking over my 2012 Sport this morning and I have a question.I've removed and replaced shocks in the past and I was looking at the JK front shocks. How are the upper nuts removed? What has to be removed to access these nuts?
Thanks,
Vince

The Driver's side is visible and accessible. However, the passenger side is a different story. Other members have cut a slit/dremmeled an opening to get to it. Another option but may take more effort is to remove the inner lining

I used a ratchet wrench(so useful) and channel locks to hold the shock.

Getting the new ones on was the hard part.

16 mm wrench and trim plastic back a little. It has no effect on jeep cosmetic or functional

Rag and a vise grip on the upper part of the rod works pretty well

Like the others have said "cut that plastic crap out of the way". Well, they might not have said exactly that.

I know I never understood why Chrysler liked their front shocks to have studs at one end it's a pain in the ass to remove them especially if you live in the rust belt. I always convert them over on my trucks and jeeps!!! Life will be so much better after you do!!

This is the way to go.... No need to cut or remove other parts, patience is the key

The drivers side can be done like this

Please tell me how you can do the passenger side. You cannot get the wrench on the and have the wrench sticking out to hold it still while you turn the shock with vise grips so how do you do it?

This is the type of wrench you need not a sockets. Make sure they are the ratcheting kind or you will bust your knuckles from taking the wrench on and off the nut. I don't remember what size you need.
