Default Gas Mileage

I just purchased a new 4dr JK, the gas mileage appears to be about 12 miles per gallon. Is this normal? The sticker said between 12and 18 MPG. I haven't had any better results. I filled it three times with no change in mileage. Can any one give me advice on a way to raise my MPG? Airfilter? Diff Lube? Tow it behind another vehicle????? hahaha I MISS MY 4.0!!!!!!!!

I get almost 20 with 37s and 5.13s on summer gas.
I get about 16 with winter gas.

Between the ethanol and being winter, your mileage will be lower than expected.
However, being as low as you describe, assuming you are using the fill-up-and-do-the-math method, your driving habits could be the culprit.
Short drives in town will drag it way down. A heavy right foot will cost you, too.
You can do more to raise mileage than any mod you would install.

wow...i'm at 13.9 w/ 35's on there....ive noticed that mine rarely increases unless im going 55 on a highway...other than that i usually averaged 16...i guess it really depends on how you drive it and what speeds you drive it at the most

As stated before....quit drag racing it.

I average 16mpg city/18 mixed/ and 19-21highway (without/with cruise control)

Performance mods are an Airaid CAI. Didn't make much MPG difference. A also have a 6-speed manual. That DOES make a difference. I keep the RPM's below 3500 for the most part....which is the main reason I get the MPG that I do.

Drive it on the weekends only. Jeeps and gas mileage don't belong in the same sentence. You would think that when they redesigned the engine, they would have looked at that aspect.

I am guessing that since you just got it you haven't hit the 2,000 mile mark yet. once you hit this area it seems like the computer has learned you habits better, and you will get better power and gas milage. 12 is not normal since I get about 18.

I just put another 1500 mile trip on my RUBY

Last year I averaged 19.8 mpg and this year, on the same trip, with mods, I averaged 18.8 mpg

The jeep gets decent mileage if you drive it SANELY !!!
