Gear Changes
I have tried to research this topic so not to keep repeating the question. Here goes. Seems like if I wanted to go from 3.21 to 4.56 this can be very costly. Good ring and pinion...Yukon...needs overhaul kit, Carrier ect, around $1400.00 If I was never going to go larger than 35" tires, a good chart I seen indicates a 4.10 with the new motor..would be 2012,2013,2014, would work fine. DD 98% of the time. I am getting ready to purchase and I like to have a plan before I start, lift, wheels, tires, so thinking if I found Rubi with 4.10, that might be ok. Thoughts and sugestions please!!!
So ... your question is about swapping a set of rubi take-off axles instead of regearing, correct?
They are a direct bolt on swap. There is no upgrade in the housings themselves, same length, tube diameter, tube thickness, c's that you have now. The shafts in both ends will be slight upgrades, the gears up front will be a good strength increase, the rear gears will be the same strength you have now. They will have selectable lockers which are much, much better than your current open diffs, and you will need to run the wiring and switches.
So yes, 'IF' you can find a set for a decent price, go for it. Just be aware that for new model rubicons, 3.73 and 4.10 gear ratios are both available, so be sure to check.
