Off Road Evolution has a very good reputation. Did you ask them to explain why?

 

Compared to the prices you pay around here to do the same install thats a damn good deal by a legitimate shop. I paid close to 2 grand for the same work.

 

OX rear locker with electric option for actuation and 4.10s front and rear with master kits and I paid $2400 in Florida.

Offroad Evolution has a great rep. If I lived out there I would t hesitate. Just ask them for the statement of work with the line item charges so you are comfortable with the quote.

I would spend the extra $200 just to have a shop like that do the work.

 

off road evolution does have a great rep,, and that is exactly why they can charge ridiculous prices for their service! Remember,, they are also NOT an axle or gear specialty shop. They are an overall fab and off road shop. That is not to say they cant do a great job on something as easy as a gear/locker install. 1K,, or $1219 is too much in my opinion. Try looking at J&S gear on Gothard in Huntington beach! This is a rear end shop only and a small business that has been there forever. He also only uses American made products!! the ph# 714-841-4545. I think his price will be right around $800. Good luck!

 

I'd venture to guess that Off Road Evolution has done more JK aftermarket gear installs than anyone in the country. I wouldn't hesitate to pay a little more to know the job was done right by experienced installers. I think the OP got a very fair quote for the work involved.

 

We do about $4000 a month from our gear supplier, that's a decent amount of gear changes. We get an average of $1600 for front and rear gears, master kits, seals, labor and synthetic castrol gear oil. EVOs yearly gear sale is a steal, and a couple of hundies for the locker install is still a steal. Take advantage of it, they do great work, and are more than qualified for the gear work.

 

I found a place to do it for $900 total.
