"Dry bearing". Can you be a little more specific? You mean grinding or maybe a roar? I would have to say no, not normal.....BUT I'm only online, too, not in your Jeep. Still though, I know how much work you had done and what you probably spent. I wouldn't be happy with any noise at ALL except maybe the locker clicking on really sharp turns as has been indicated by several others. Now THAT I would say would be normal, not what you are describing.

Man, I sure wish you lived closer. I wouldda been glad to help you do it. That wouldda been all kinda fun.

I deleted my ass kick post, was just frustrated last night. Took it to the shop. Can't find where the noise is coming fromThey broke out the stethescope and all. Up on jackstands ,can't duplicate it. Going down the road 35-40mph a steady wheel bearing type of noise but it doen't change. Doesn't really get much louder at 70mph. It has them stumped too. They said just drive it and if it gets any worse letum know. Anything goes wrong with the gears it's covered. At least I'm getting 2mpg more now, got overdrive back and can actually pass people. They are good guys there and they were all over it when I called. I've already put about 200miles on them since yester day, figured it would have exploded by now if something was wrong with gears or locker.

It's a damn mystery noise and it's bugging the hell outta me. You can't really hear it with the windows down. Time to shitcan the doors and put my safarie top back on. It discquises those unfavorable noises. I'm starting to feel like this is one of my CJ's. 5.13's are kick ass too . frt locker lets me know it's there when I pull into a parking spot. Can't wait to try it out.

Think I might pull the JE Reel frt driveshaft Sunday, see if that's the prob. You can't grease the damn upper joints while it's on and can't really inspect them good either, that's the only thing I can think of to make that noise. The angle may be causing some type of rub between the double carden joint when at a certain speed, I dunno, grasping at straws. The shop seemed to think it was coming from the rear, but the sound resonates through the whole tub. Shop said it's gear guy said the Yukon gears had a perfect line up and was real happy with the outcome. Those guys took 2 hrs with me huntin for the noise, kudos to them. Right now, still a mystery.

Well great. At least they are gonna stand behind it. You can't ask for any better.....unless it's nothing going wrong to stand behind.

did they open up either axle or just try to listenfor it? maybe there would be excessive metal shavings maybe the pinion load isnt right?

Good luck, hope you get it figured out and dont wind up with trouble like I had

I eyeballed the upper joint of my je reel oe 1310 driveshaft in the frt, you can only see it from a certain angle. One of the ears on the joint is chewing into the shaft part. I'm gonna take it off Sunday and take some pics. The only reason I can think of why I didn't hear it before is my windows are usually down and the rear window out. Had it on for a few months. Anybody else have this happen?

Pulled the frt driveshaft, looks like it's the culprit.
