Default GenRight Tire Carrier - Help Paint

Just installed my GenRight Aluminum Tire Carrier. I just need some tips on painting aluminum... What kind of prep, primer, paint ect... I will remove it to paint it.

On a side note. This is the best tire carrier I have ever had (and the most expensive). This thing is solid and very light! I went out wheeling this morning and I did not see the tire move an inch!

P.S. No im not going to LineX or Powdercoat

Leave it like it is. It matches your jeep.

What do they use to reinforce the mounting points? Like the fact it's lighter weight but the tire alone is heavy so that's why I ask about the mounts. Looks great!

It appears so in the picture but in person you can see many imperfections in the surface. There is writing on it (printed) some parts of it were sanded or what ever they do to aluminum... discoloration. Overall it does not look bad but everything on mu jeep is flat black including the grill

Genright says this carrier can support a 42" tire. There is a solid piece of aluminum that the hinges mount to plus it came with new steal hinge joints that connect to the tailgate. I put some of my weight on it (not a lot) and there is absolutely no flex or movement. Much sturdier then my last bumper/tire carrier combo.

Sand, use a self etching primer, lightly sand primer and paint with any rattle can. Textured rust oleum matches stock plastic parts very well.
