Default Gerry Can Question

So I have a couple jerry cans and I plan on custom fabing a mount to fit them inside my Jeep.

Question:

1. I hear Jerry cans leak from the bottom, is that true? Is there any way to stop that if it is true?

2. If I have my jerry cans inside my Jeep, will I be sniffing fumes from them, or are they pretty sealed tight to keep from fumes leaking out.

This is what I have... http://www.quadratec.com/products/12202_06.htm

Really depends on what kind of jerry cans you have - old NATO cans will probably leak. I have Wedco cans and they don't leak a drop. I've heard mixed reviews on Blitz cans.

Whaddya got?

ETA, just noticed you had a link at the bottom...I don't know those cans
usually if they're wedco or blitz it would say so.

I use to carry spare diesel in my Scout in a Blitz with no problem. But then again I am not in Arizona (hot) and it is not gas (more vapors). You may want to re think this approach.

Gas inside the Jeep ? ''Ya'' Now that's a really good idea!
In my past life I hauled Nitroglycerene around in my covered waggon !

I think thats a great idea, with todays $4.00 a gallon, around here thats alot to lose and when in town and away from the JK for about 2 mins that little can will no longer be in its holder when you return to your ride...lol. The oldschool trucks have their gas tanks inside the cabs, I don't smell anything ever and I have 2 chevys with them. Ask yourselves this, whats better and safer about having the gas tanks under the bed, with all the crazy people on the road that drive up on your bumper? I'd hate to get ass ended with a 20 or 30 gallon gas tank right at my back bumper...lol. There about as safe back there as my 20 gallons in my backseat, just something to think about.

Make sure it doesn't leak a bit and rig it up in your JK, if you make it safe and make sure it doesn't leak at all and stick it in there.
