getting the old muffler off--help!!!!
i'm not worried about selling or trading..once it's on, i'm not taking it off..i may need a thicker blade. it wasn't going thru the hanger.
i'm gonna as a newbie question here--should i worry about the sparks that kick off my saw/grind? it's near the gas tank & evap cansiter. my over active imagination is in overdrive.

We cut everything..... pipes, hangers, clamps etc......
Even if you get the hangers off..... seperating the pipes is a PITA due to the corrosion and that fact the pipes have been baked together for a while....

i REALLY don't want to give in and spend the hundred bucks to have the guys at the muffler shop install it--
it's not the money-it's kinda the point of doing the work myself.

Just did mine yesterday, the exhaust side was a PITA. Used a long screw driver from the bumper side out and pried like crazy, I did not have a good size pry bar to use. Finally got it. If I had a sawzall I would have went that way.
i used channel locks. no lube or anything, just the channel locks. i put the top half of the jaws on end of the steel hanger and the lower half on the back side of the rubber piece. a little work, some patience, and some carefully placed explicatives got the job done. i'm sure some PB or WD-40 would've helped immensely, but i didn't feel like going to the shed. the hardest part for me was trying to work off the actual joint in the exhaust where it goes into the muffler. have fun and good luck
