Would it have been better to go finance or buy a second car for gas mileage like a used small car?

I will probably go this route when gas goes over 5 bills. I have two vehicles now but the wifes minivan is her baby (leather, TV's DVD, VHS, captains chairs, custom baby seat, etc)
I have an Hyundai Elantra that gets 30+ mpg.

I just LIKE to drive my Jeep and decided it might be a worth while experiment in these days to see what the difference was etc.

BTW my Wife also owns an Elantra, so does my Son, And my daughter, and my Mother in Law and several other family memebers as well.
After I got mine in 2000 they all decided it was the best value in a car out there for now.

Cost and details about Aluminum rims etc. are in my original post.
But you have to READ and UNDERSTAND what you read to get it ...

I would have but you turned what should have been a 3 sentence post into a novel on wheels and tires. (Moby dick reads easier)

I feel like I have to post since I read that WHOLE thing....

So your jeep now sits 1" higher than a stock Rubicon, but the axles sit a full 2" lower... I'd really like to see some pictures of this

I really don't like compromises. So to me the "street" jeep just doesn't make any sense. It's like keeping everything that's bad about a jeep and getting rid of everything that is good. And then you still end up with a vehicle that gets poor mileage, handles poorly, and accelerates poorly compared to other vehicles oriented to the street. And no offense but a lifted jeep on 28" street tires can't be the most asthetic thing on the planet either.

This does bring up a good point though. My stock rubicon does really well on the street in my opinions. I'm dying to lift it and put some 35s on. But right now it drives so well on the street (considering its offroad performance) that I haven't convinced myself to do it yet. I'm getting 19 mpg in mixed city/highway.

I am not sure if you have thought about this but there are any reasons why you put larger "wider" Tires on a lifted jeep. You have raised your center of gravity yet you have not widened your stance... This is going to make your jeep more prone to rollover and make it more unsafe to drive. I know everyone is trying to find ways to save money on gas but to me this is just ruining the reason you bought the jeep and sunk all of the extra money into ... not to mention it must look like the biggest turd on the block!

I say if you want to save some money on gas buy your self a cheap little four cylinder car that will both save you money on fuel and keep miles off your expensive jeep. The money you spent on those dinky tires and wheels could have paid for some of the car.

Just my 2 cents but who wants to drive a jeep with 28inch tires... i think the compass has bigger tires than that! lol
