Default Goodyear Duratrac size recommendations

I am getting ready to replace my stock tires on my 2010 JK Unlimited Sahara. Automatic, which I believe ships with 3.73 gears.

I am pretty sold on the Goodyear Duratrac as the tire of choice. I am looking for a more aggressive look, and better sand and snow performance. I am not looking to go rock climbing, or running the Rubicon anytime soon.

It is my DD, and I spend a fair amount of time on the highway. I live in New England, so roads tend to me hilly, but not mountains.

I plan to install a Teraflex 2.5" BB (box sitting in the garage). I would like to keep the stock rims - I like their look (go figure). Also, don't want to spend $$'s of re-gearing immediately, but do plan to eventually add an ARB locker in the rear (perhaps both) and would be OK to regear at that time.

Looking for some advice on size selection.

275/70r18:
7-8.5" rims recommended
10.82" wide
33.15" diameter

295/65r18:
8-10" rims recommended
11.61" wide
33.09" diameter

325/65r18:
9-10" rim recommended
12.79" wide
34.63" diameter

I understand I likely need to add 1.5" spacers for all these choices, as a minimum.

My 1st choice would be 325/65r18. Would I have enough lift with 1.5" spacers to avoid rubbing issues? Could I survive without re-gearing as long as I reprogram (I have the Superchips Flashpaq already) the shift points? Will I be having issues with tire wear due to the 7.5" stock rim width?

My 2nd choice would be the 295/65r18. Is a 2.5" BB enough lift with 1.5" spacers? I assume re-gearing wouldn't be necessary, but will change the shift points. Issues with stock rims?

Last choice would be the 275/70r18. Does this tire add sufficient performance increase (snow/mud/sand), and aggressive stance, or will I be sorry?

Trying to monetize this entire thing versus the end goal. I have read lots on these threads, but still have lots to learn:

1) tire cost (5)
2) spacer cost
3) lift cost
4) new wheel cost (if required, offset by no need for spacers?)
5) cost of re-gearing
6) after market tire carrier

Anything else to consider would be appreciate.

What gear ratio are you running now? If your going to run a 65/18 tires get new wheels.

275/70/18 will fit without spacers and no rubbing.
Easy to find to replace.
Less hassle with problems.

I have 295/65/18 on my stock rims, teraflex performance level with 1.5 spidertax spacers. I have 12 JKU with 3.73, shift points are a little off but my procal is on its way. No issues with rubbing. Wish I could help you on price, but we pay a lot more north of the border. Didn't think the superchips worked for 2012s???....

Zackly, runnin same size with Kelly TSR's.
Speedo off by a few MPH with this size, nothing to wild.
Possibility of an E-rated tire...Well, you may find a bit more jarring ride then you bargained for.I run mine at 30/32 psi made it much smoother. You will also notice a dip in fuel economy, but hey...It's a Jeep...
Oh Yeah, I forgot...Although no "rub" they may at full lock...You'll want spacers just for looks, as a bonus, it will eliminate full lock rub!!!

Subscribed to this thread. I've got an identical setup with the same tire choice and size in mind for the near future.

Poster- don't forget that you'll likely need an afternarket tire carrier in the rear if you plan on going to the 34 or 35 inch duratrac tire!!
