Any moisture in the air will cause your part to begin surface rusting. Although this may not be very noticeable to the naked eye, it will be present. The presence of this microscopic surface rust will compromise the adhesion of especially powder. Basically if your going to sandblast something prior to, it is best to apply what ever you are going to apply in a reasonable time frame thereafter.
Thanks spicedcrusher. Yep, for a perfect painting surface, and the best adhesion, and very uniform. Its also quicker than sanding by hand. Clean, wipe down, sandblast, wipe down, and shoot. Great if you have access to one. If not--no big deal, it'll take longer to prep is all, and you'd have to be a bit more meticulous w/ the cleaning and sanding.

Thanks for all the input guys. Why were you disappointed with the bed liner? I have debated between that or rustoleum textured paint but I would imagine the bedliner would be a little more durable than just a paint.

I have my grill sprayed with Rustoleum bedliner. It looks great. The thing I don't like about it is that it is very hard to clean unless you use a pressure washer. It's about like trying to wash 100 grit sand paper. I just ordered a ps bumper. I'm thinking of going with semi gloss.

Some people like the "hammered" paint. JCR has it as one of their recommended paint finishes. I would think anything textured would be harder to touch up seamlessly.
