I've had the same experience. The only time I find them lacking is when I'm being outgunned by someone with HID's.
I'm going to upgrade to give myself a better view with oncoming traffic.

put in Sylvania Silverstars last week and they are some what better then stock.look whiter and maybe a little brighter.cost $26.00 shipped from e-bay.if they die i think buy whole new units(hella, cibie)also the headlight Glass seemed very thin and lightweight compared to the hella i had on my tj.kinda like the roundness of the stock ones.took about 10 min to swap out both bulbs which requires removal of the grill and the headlights to remove the bulbs.all very idiot proof.tabs on everything only fit one way.

Thanks for the removing grille tip. I managed to get the drivers side light out in the target parking lot. It took a bit of hand contortion to pull it out. the bad thing was they didn't have the right bulbs there. Now that I have the numbers I won't have to pull that stunt the next time. Thanks for all the info sharing guys/gals.

My Lights Seem Great. I Did Have An Issue With The Fog Lamps Being A Little Too Low. (no Point To See Directly In Front Of Me Where I Can't See Anyway.) I Positioned Them Up Just A Smidge To Btighten Up The Dark Hole In Front Of Me Just Below Where The Headlamps Lit Up. Now I Have A Solid Bright Area In Front Me. I Am Also Working On Something Big And Bright For The Front Windshield Pillar. No One Seems To Make A Bracket Yet And All The Ones I Have Seen So Far That People Made Themselves Look Like Cheap Crap! I Will Post Photos When I Get Them Done.

Chrysler makes these brackets. At least they are on the Jeep website as an accessory for the JK.

What does anyone think about these HID conversion kits? $179 doesn't sound too bad for HID. Which color temp is preferred?

While at my local Advance Auto Parts this weekend, I saw Sylvania Silverstars in 9008 size, so I broke down and bought a set.

In my humble opinion, they are not brighter than stock at all, but they do have a whiter beam. When looking at the bulb and comparing to the old one, it appears to have a blue coating, and the filaments (both low AND high) seem smaller that the stock bulbs. I had my wife and a friend from church compare both side to side (Silverstar on right, stock on left), they both agreed (without any input from me) that the light looks whiter, but not any brighter on the right. I then drove at night to a local "wall" and compared the brightness against
"The Wall", I saw no appreciable difference in the brightness with these bulbs.

Summary, if you want a whiter beam, these are for you. If you want a brighter beam, you'll have to search elsewhere. I didn't bother to replace the passenger side, I really see no point right now in wasting my time, but will keep the other Silverstar, and the old stock bulb as spares until I replace the whole headlight assembly with something brighter.

Anyone know if a replacement headlight HOUSING for the JK that holds H13/9008 bulbs is available yet? NO, I DON'T WANT CIBIES PLEASE, so don't waste your effort typing.
