Default Heat Vents & Flutter?

For those out there with heat vents, do you still get hood flutter?

I'm looking for another good reason to cut holes into a perfectly good hood.

Daystar Hood Wranglers = no more hood flutter.

why spend money. all you have to do is remove the spring under the hood next to the latch. done no more highway speed hood moving!

This is all I did as well. It takes a pretty nasty tailwind from a semi to lift the hood at all anymore.

Earfixr, I concur with above, I have the Daystar Hood latches and they stop the flutter.

On the subject of hood vents, I'd be careful where and how you mount them. The outer hood skin is pretty thin and given the hood vents can catch wind, I'd suggest tying any vents into the "X" shaped inner reinforced skin.

I've sliced and drilled my hood to mount a 12" lightbar and hood scoop, and fabricated a cradle structure on the inner skin to secure it. My idea was posted here a while ago, now almost finished but no new pics https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...ght=hood+scoop

Also, hood heat vents like AEV's and similar will allow water into the engine bay, check-out TMD's side-mounted vents, photos on https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...light=tmd+hood

Not true for all. I have the spring removed and have had it removed since i got the jeep over 2 yrs. ago. I still get hood flutter at highway speeds, especially with semis or a strong head or crosswind.

After getting the crap scared out of me a few times (thought the hood was going to fly off), I did the zip tie mod. Search for it.

I got the daystar hood latch system. Just a much harder rubber that replaces the stock strap. No flutter anymore at 70 mph into wind.
