Default Help: Adding axle sleeves

I am going to be putting in axles sleeves this winter on my D30. I can only find one video on youtube by EVO doing their axle and sleeves. Any other videos around? Does anyone have a write up about doing the job? Do I have to remove my gears to put these in for welding of just clean them up good inside before and after?

I removed the gears and axles and took the axle housing off the vehicle. You have to drill a lot of holes all around the tubes. Some people do it on the vehicle. Either way, pull the ring gear/carrier out. You have to make certain the tubes and differential are very clean after all the drilling and welding.

Nitro makes a pound in axle sleeve that the guys in California had an install party on and they posted videos and tips. I can't post links as I'm in mobile but if you search nitro sleeves you may be able to find it.

Unless you are one heck of a welder, you should have a shop do it.The idea of drilling 1/2 inch holes in my housing does not sound like fun

Why not go with nitros and skip the weld?

Thanks all. I have a used axle I am going to build up over the winter. Gussets, sleeves skid, etc. Not enough funds for a new axle, plus I need a winter project to keep me sane!
