Seeing a small leak that is collecting in the c of the axle right under the u joint. It looks like the axle is leaking right from the end of be tube

I did some hard wheeling this weekend but also had a shop do gussets on the c and I sleeved the axle

Is this bad to continue driving

 

Before you jump to conclusions (and I say that nicely), clean the area very good. Make sure you see no oil after cleaning. Then wait it out a little, drive, whatever you need to do, and see if the leak continues. Then you can at least say "hey, it's leaking". Sometimes the residual oil makes its way out, and no further leak is seen.

Granted - from your pics, I see drips of oil on the ground which indicates a worse leak/seepage than what I thought I had. However, I did have oil on the inside of my C and cleaned it - no more residue.

 

Your inner axle seal is damaged and leaking. I would guess that it was damaged when the shop removed and replaced your axle shaft when you had the sleeves done. As much as it's leaking I would have it looked at pretty soon and I would definitely check the fluid level in the diff. You might want to take it back to the shop that did the work and maybe see if they would help you on replacing the seal since chances are they damaged it.

 

Damn was really hoping it wasnt leaking but I'm gonna wipe it up now and wait a bit and see what happens

 

If the seal is leaking you will typically see the inner sidewall of your tire covered in oil and it will spray oil all over the wheel well area.

Clean it up, check your fluid level, and keep driving it. Monitor the amount of oil you see. It is very possible that the seal was damaged when reinstalling the axle shafts however like Foxracing said it could just be residual oil that collected in the axle tube when you had the axle shafts out. Hope for the best!

 

I didnt see the oil sprayed over the tire at all and I drove it after seeing the oil leaking on my garage floor so hopefully it is just oil residue left over . I didnt see it until like 4 days after the work was done.
Is it possible too much oil was put in my diff?

 

Yes it's possible too much was put in, but it will blow out of the bypass also if this is the case. Some leaks down the tubes when the shafts are pulled as mentioned before, but keep a close eye on it because if it is leaking you can't tell how bad until your flying down the road. Sitting at my house I didn't think I had a bad leak at all. 1 gear install and a toasted front driveshaft you joint later I know better

 

this is a common problem. i may have had the problem for about a month at least. dropped it at the dealer and they fixed it same day. bad axle seal.
i have no drivetrain mods. yet.

 

Mine is leaking as well. Noticed it after my last trail run. I have aftermarket shafts, gears, sleeves, gussets so little chance of getting it fixed under warranty.

I have a friend who runs an OffRoad shop who will fix it for me since its quite a major job to replace a $6 part. Axle has to be stripped down to replace the damn seal. Not something I want to do in my garage!

I've run mine leaking for about a month now. It stopped for a while but it tends to slowly leak after long drives. I'm tired of the gear smell so it will get fixed.

But it is a common problem. Just sucks its a major job to fix!

 

What brand axles did you go with? Is it the passenger side?
