Default HELP!! Broken Bracket

ok, i turned into work today and i couldnt steer! I look underneath and the braket the attaches the suspension to the axel is broke. The weld just let go! now im fighting with the dealership cause they claim they wont fix it due to my aftermarket lift. but its a part that came with the jeep not a aftermarket part.

i would hose the crap out of it before he the DM sees it. Get all the wharton mud off it. I have heard if they see that kinda stuff they wont really rule in your favor. If not I would check to for a local welding place to clean and weld it again...good luck with that

I know I represent a minority opinion around here but I am not quite sure why people freak out on the dealers when they lift their Jeeps and run big tires. Just take it to a welding shop or a buddy and have it welded up for $30.

Please don't think I am agreeing with them but a jeep with a lift and larger tires does put more stress on the steering system than a stocker. That noted, (as rcjeeper mentioned) it should take a decent welder like 15 minutes including prep time to fix that and you would think they would just do it to keep you as a customer. If they argue with you over petty things they risk losing all of the revenue from your future purchases.

you talking the trac bar? it is pretty common for JK trac brackets to snap. I am having my welded up during the lift install. Things is the lift is what causes the additional strain so you will never win with the dealer. Pulling the Magnusson card will tough on this one... if another bracket then I will get back inmy corner and color LOL

if you had a relocation bracket attached to it, that would be the reason why it broke and why your dealership will not warranty it. if this is the case, i would just take your jeep to a welding shop or have a mobile welder come out and get the factory bracket fixed. i would also get a currie relocation bracket and have it welded on and then toss your old relocation bracket. now, if you don't have a relocation bracket installed, i would recommend that you get a jks replacement front bracket and have it welded on. that way you know it won't break again.
