Default Help with DW

I know this subject has been beat to death I have been reading post for like an hour now and still have not found what I am looking for. So I just installed the TFBB 2.5 lift with shocks I upgraded to the Heavy duty TF steering stablilizer and JKS quick disconects.

I had my family in my jeep last night drinving in town at like 35 to 40mph. I hit a bump and Death wobble. I read that it could be due to instalation errors. what could be wrong I followed the instructions on this site step by step with no issues. please help.

Death wobble seems to always be attributed to the track bar in some way. Did you make SURE you tightened down everything with the weight of the Jeep on the tires? If not, then I would loosen everything back up, and tighten everything back up with the Jeep's weight on the tires and see if that makes a difference. If not, I would literally get a magnafying glass out to the track bar and both track bar brackets.

No I believe I tightend everything while it was in the air but I might be wrong. I can try that though. I did speak to a local tire and suspensoin shop today and they told me to bring it down they will look at it.

Before you spend money, loosen it ALL back up and torque it back down with the weight on the wheels. What happens is, when you tighten things with bushings in the air and unloaded, when you put weight on it, you have essentially built some preload into those joints. That can set up all kinda bad harmonics.

Another common reason for death wobble is out of balance tires. You said you hit a bump and then got death wobble. Maybe you knocked off a tire balance weight?

Just remember, take a systematic approach. Everybody has a different opinion about death wobble. Don't let it overwhelm you. Just look at one thing at a time and try to keep your sanity.

Do not be insulted by my question, but are you using a good torque wrench. 125ft/lb is a decent tug, that you will most likely not reach with a little 3/8 socket.

I had similar problems from mine but it was the wheel bearing going bad causing it to DW whenever that tire hit a hole. Good luck!
