Default help to install 2" Rubicon Express BB/mototube

my 2" REBB just came in and I was wondering how you should mount the shocks. Do you put the shaft up or down?

The shocks that came with mine look like its only going to let me install with the shaft down and the body on top. here is a pic. is this right? also the bushing had this pin going through it that shouldn't be there in order for it to be mounted. It was a pain trying to get those things out.

I dont like that you have to drill the shock housing on the axle in order to install the front shock bump.

Does anyone who has done this lift have any helpfull tips for the install?

Front and rear can up, gotta bench vise? It'll help gettin the ones for the frt out. Shock bumpstops? You mean the compression stops? Drill the pads where they go and put them in , Shouldn't be on the shock housing The frt ones go on in the middle of your coil sping at bottom and the rear go on your rear axle underneath the bumpstops.

I had the same problem. I had to modify both shock to get them to fit. Once they were on I have not had a problem. The ride is only a little stiffer then stock. I did not have to drill the housing at all. In the front I used both the stock bushings as well as the new ones to get them to seat right. I can get you a picture if you want.

I finally got the thing installed. Took me alot longer than 2 hours. It looks great but a PITA to install since the parts they give you all require modification to fit.

I pre drilled the 5/16" hole but one of the bolt's threads totally stripped and it was no good. So one side has the bumpstop and the other null.

For the RE front shocks, I used a vice (really small one) to get the posts out as far as I could, then I used a bolt and hit the crap out of it till it popped out.
To get the stock sleeves out I ended up buying a gear puller and used that to push it thru. trying to get them in the new shocks I ended up drilling out the bushing just a bit, greased it up then hit it in with a mallet.

I thought the rear RE shocks were going to be a breeze but I found out that the holes were also too small. I drilled and then filed it down to make it fit.

The majority of the time was spent F##king with the RE monotube shocks to get them to work. They should have better quality control and make sure things fit the application they say.
