Help me choose some lockers!
Yes.. the easy way or the hardway.. The easy way get the new carrier, bearings and shims - The hard way get a bearing puller and remove the ones on there and put on the new carrier with the exsisting shims.. Just make sure the shim depth is the same if the carrier has the same dimensions os the original..
and speaking of being a cheapass, say I did decide to go to a shop to get the work done, is it worth it (if I'm going with the detriot trutraks) to replace the rear factory lsd, or just to add the detroit lsd to the front, and wait for the rear to fail before replacing it?
Carrier is the part on the inside of the pumkin your actual opern diff where the axels slide in to. You can just replace the front then do the back when the lsd wears out in yhe rear. I paid $390.00 for my detroit tru track. Just make sure you order the right one for the gears you are running in your jeep. Took me and a friend about 4 Hours to install due to we took our time and went slow. My step dad put his in in 2 hours. I put in new bearing so i didn' t have to press off the old ones off of the old carrier. Got new ones from crysler for 100.00 with the races. I also installed the arb diff cover at the same time.
