If one feels they must put a traction aid in the front with a Dana 30 I would suggest a Detroit true trac. I also think that the locker puts too much strain on the axle housing and that leads to bent Cs and tubes. That is why I think there are so many guys with Rubi 44s that are bending their fronts. The locked axles cause too much strain.

Cable lockers... work great as a selectable locker when they work. Worthless when they don't.

Lunchbox lockers, work very well until the added pressure on the carrier causes it to break. Ask me how I know. It happenned to me.

Detroit locker is the way to go.

Leave the dana 30 open unless you want to break on the trail. Again, ask me how I know.

Hope this helps.
Fron my understanding a detoit is great expect you have to make sure your rig is in perfect alignment and tire pressure is exact bilaterally otherwise it puts a lot of on and off strain on the locker. Anyone have any input on if I am correct or confusing this

I don't have any personal experience with Spartan lockers, but they work the same way that LockRight and Aussie lockers work.

For the question regarding tire pressure and the DL.... with any LSD or locker you really need to make sure your preasures are the same from side to side. Actually, rolling diameter is what is important. On a locked or LSD'd axle, if your overal diameter of the tires are different, you can increase the wear (read burn out) an LSD and create unusual lock up/unlock of a locker. So you never want to run different brand tires on a locked or LSD'd axle. (mechanical locked) If you run a short spare and have a flat on a locked axle, you need to move that short tire to an open diff axle or rick damaging your diff.
