Default Help Me Fix My Problem

Okay i have the 4" superlift and im getting the death wobble and very bad front end shimmy when ever i hit the slightest bump in the road. This happens over and over and when it dosent happen the steering wheel shakes like a loose goose.

Anyone know what i can get to fix this problem for good. Im tired of being afraid to hit a small bump in the road and then feel embaressed when my whole jeep shakes like an earthquake and forces me to pull over.

I hae been looking at

A. Teraflex front upper or lower control arms

B. Teraflex forged trakbar

c. Teraflex HD Frame brace and drag link flip kit

D. Rockrawler tie rod....

Any suggestions?????

you need to find the cause of it. IE trackbar bolts/bushings, worn balljoints.......

Take a look at the JKS trackbar too.

Check if everything is tight first.

This is a problem i have been having for awhile. Like most people the lift goes on and then you get death wobble. Mine isnt death wobble evertime but it happens frequently

I check everything and all the trackbar and tie rod endings are tight as can be.

Default Warlock13... Alignment Data

Hi Warlock13,

If everything looks good to you visually, and if you can't find any bolts that aren't tightened to spec, or joints that are worn, I would recommend that you pay for a computerized alignment (even if it is only to get the data from the baseline check). You can use that information to help you troubleshoot some obvious things. At least you can rule some things out.. and maybe you will see something obvious.

You can probably work your way into a solution without the alignment; but, it may cost you a lot more money and time just swapping out components.

Just my opinion...

Jeff

While I stand here and preach "find the cause!" "find the cause!" everybody I give that advice to just throws parts at their stuff til it seems fixed.....so throw parts at it.

Do a search for Death Wobble and you'll find countless threads on how to fix it. The biggest answer you'll find is to get your front-end geometry back to as-close-as stock as you can. This will likely include an adjustable trackbar and adjustable control arms. Verifying that all your bolts are torqued to spec is also critical.

But, searching for Death Wobble will give you plenty of reading material to fix your problem. Good luck.

if you have had everything currently on your Jeep without death wobble then you don't need additional parts! something is loose or worn.... nuff said

being that you have 4" of lift and no adjustable control arms, you most likely have way too little caster and that will definitely be something i would address. while a lack of caster alone will not cause death wobble, it will allow the forces that allow DW to occur. at bare minimum, i would get a set of adjustable front lower arms and try to add a degree or two.

to address your DW specifically, you need to make sure that your track bar mounts do not show any signs of tearing or fatigue, that the mounting holes are not wollowed out, that the bushings are in good shape and that your track bar itself is tightend to 125-130 ft. lbs. of torque. 99% of DW is a track bar related problem and this is where you need to be looking at the most.

You might want to unbolt your stock track bar and see if the rubber parts are showing wear or looking egg shaped instead of being tight around the pipe that goes through.
